About Modeling Model is created using Rhinoceros 3.3 . Everything is free 3D handsketch - not based on a blueprints . Concept of this model is created also from me - it`s hybrid between Caterpillar and Bobcat . In mechanical point of view - everything is properly of course . When I was approx. on 30-33% I try to increase the quality of the displayed mesh ... that was to hard for my 3.2GHz Pentium 4 , after some calculations my laptop just switch off ... I loose all unsaved data - but that was smaller problem , i loose the only background reference image and all displayed mesh ... rebuilding of the display mesh even with lowest parameters was slow and hard ... To restore the position , the scale factor and rotation angle of reference was impossible - so this hand sketch becomes more free ... For modelig i use polysurfaces , i try meshes but Rhino generate some non symetrical surfaces even when source curves are mirrored , it was necessary to sketch some extra section for details result of "sweep" operations . Converting model from surfaces to polysufrace and using of fillets make those model 232 Mb , clear stuff 200 Mb in 3dm format ( full - not saved small ) .
About Export / Mesh Optimization ... on my laptop ( the only equipment i got for a moment ) I cannot execute some cool rendering ... I please `dangeruss for 3D support - he`s very talent 3D designer and just amazing in materials / composing in vechicle scenes ... he`s also 3DstudioMAX user , like me . I was surprised when he accepted ( thanks Russ ) . Russ becomes very serious person also , so he make first import of the model in MAX using PowerTranslator ( powerless translator ) . Just like he said : "... import was hard and painful ..." , result was discouraging - wrong surfaces directions , hard edges , wrong normals ... just amazing . I cannot please somebody loosing time for rendering such a mesh ( Russ less ) . I please Russ to give me 2-3 days to try manual export - problematical parts are converted to meshes and exported using Rhino only . Russ optimize smooth parts and replace wrong exported details for testing scene on up .
I wanna also thanks to Bobi ( from 3D Bulgaria ) for Rhino export advices ( a lot of options there - combinations much more - full madhouse )
thanks and respect
... well that`s it ... enjoy the testing pic on up ...
Absolutely amazing, dude. Nice job, though i'm impressed more by the model than the rendering. I just don't have the patience. Really, really well done
Awesome modelling. I always wanted to learn nurbs, is it much harder then working with AutoCAD ?
Isn't it possible to export rhino surfaces to max without converting them to polys ?
NURBS in Rhino are different than the same way of modeling in 3DstudioMAX , in Rhino there is Booleans ( like in AutoCAD ) - but there is a lot of problems with solid modeling and export of those objects ... there is no way to export surfaces to 3DstudioMAX without converting to polygons ...

... thanx for
I dont like the yellow glow on the tires... sorta looks like a big yellow lights shinning on the whole lot...
great work none the less
